Amazon will open a till-free grocery store in Dalston

The tech giant Amazon has announced that it has opened another store in London. It is a till-free store and is located in Dalston. This shop is the firm’s sixth convenience store in the area that offers the ‘just walk out’ technology.

The Amazon Fresh store is found on Kingsland High Street and it started welcoming customers on the 8th of September. It comprises 2,500 square feet. This year, five other such stores were launched in the capital. To get into the shop, customers have to use a mobile app. After that, they just need to shop for what they need. The products available in the shop will be from the giant’s new private food brand ‘by Amazon’. They just need to pick up the items and walk away. Afterwards, they are going to receive their receipt via email and will be billed through their Amazon account. This till-free experience has been made possible thanks to an innovative technology that detects when products are taken from or returned to shelves. A virtual basket will keep track of them.

While Amazon has not revealed exactly how many shops it plans to open in London, it had previously announced that it looks forward to having more.
