E-commerce: Snapdeal is introducing new wellness measures for women

The e-commerce start-up Snapdeal is dedicating itself to improving the work-life of its employees. It has recently introduced a series of wellness measures for its women workers.

One of these will give new mothers the opportunity to work from home for 6 months beyond their existing maternity leave. This is great news since, as advanced, childcare is not easy and very often, women have to leave their jobs because they are unable to balance home, work and the new baby. Moreover, since offices are re-opening everywhere, mothers have shared certain apprehensions about putting their infant’s health at risk. Thus, Snapdeal has decided to give them the opportunity to be at home with their babies for a longer period of time.

Fathers can enjoy more benefits as well. For instance, as part of the firm’s “Parenting Partners Program”, they will have two weeks of paternity leave and twelve weeks of adoption leave. Other measures include a one day period leave every month for all its women employees. This will be in addition to the usual sick/ casual leaves that they are entitled to.

A spokesperson from Snapdeal advanced, “The emotional and physical well-being of our team is of immense importance to us. Offering benefits that support this, like giving moms and dads the opportunity to be at home with their new child for a longer period of time, provides the security and balance needed for our people to be able to build long-term careers with us”.
