In an attempt to compete with TikTok, Facebook is introducing a new feature. The giant has announced that
it will begin testing Reels in the US.
This new tool will give users the opportunity to create and
share short-form videos directly within the News Feed or within Facebook Groups.
Before expanding this project to the States, the firm carried out a series of
test earlier during the year in India, Mexico and Canada. These allowed
Facebook users to introduce short videos on their feed by sharing existing
Instagram Reels on the platform. Now, this feature has been expanded.
Moreover, the social
media giant has announced that it is going to test another option. This
will allow Instagram creators in the US to have their Reels shown as
recommended content on Facebook. How will this work? If a user selects this
option, their videos are going to appear in the “Reels” section in users’ News
Feed alongside others that were created on the platform itself.
Instagram has already begun to monetise Reels through
advertisements. The firm advanced that the ones on Facebook do not include ads
at the moment, but a Facebook
spokesperson added that they plan to do so in the future. Keep reading the
articles posted on this blog to learn more about this expansion.
