Amazon opens its first non-food store in the UK

The tech giant Amazon has expanded its operations in the UK. Now, it has focussed on the physical retail sector. Indeed, it has opened its first non-food store in the country.

The outlet is called Amazon 4-star. This is because all the products in the shop have been given four star ratings by customers. It is located in the Bluewater shopping mall near Dartford and will feature approximately 2,000 of its most popular and best-rated products. While this is a first in the UK, it is not a new concept. Indeed, there are already 30 such stores in the US. Shoppers can purchase items such as books, consumer electronics, toys, games and homewares. The products reflect what Amazon customers are buying online. Moreover, there is a “Most Wished For” section. This shows the most popular products from buyers’ wish lists. To make sure that the prices in-store are the same as online, there will be digital price tags. It should be noted that an Amazon account is not mandatory to access the shop.

The Amazon 4-star will also serve as a collection point for products ordered on its marketplace. Clients can also return items without the need to re-package them again or to label them, which is a huge advantage.
