Getting
your groceries within ten minutes… is that possible? This is what Tesco
is aiming at thanks to a collaboration with Gorillas. This is the retailer’s
latest move in the rapid delivery sector, considering that customers are
becoming more and more demanding.
The
supermarket company is testing this new service at a London South branch and it
might be rolled out across the UK. The first site is located in Thornton Heath.
The firm will use the excess warehouse space at the back of the store to stock
approximately 2000 items so that it can fulfill orders quickly. To use this
service, customers have to download the Gorillas app and to select the
Tesco products that they wish to buy. This is perfect if you want to get food
for tonight or you have to get some last-minute forgotten items.
Speaking
about this decision, Jason Tarry, Tesco UK & Republic of Ireland chief
executive officer, said: “The idea that we can reach our customers in just 10
minutes is really exciting”. He advances that the firm is committed to “being
easily the most convenient choice for our customers, enabling them to shop
whenever and however they want”.
This is not
Tesco’s first foray into the rapid delivery sector.
It already has its own Whoosh service which can deliver groceries within
60 minutes.
