For a very long
time, Google was the ‘master’ of the Web. It was the most popular domain
globally. This has now changed. It has been dethroned by TikTok as a
study has shown.
The survey
was carried out by the web security company Cloudfare. It conducted a
study on the domains that gained the most traffic from one year to another and
released the rankings. Last year’s research showed that Google, including Maps,
Translate, News and other subsidiaries was at the top position. At the time,
TikTok had the 7th place.
This year,
things have changed drastically, with the video-sharing firm making a huge jump
to reach the top. It surpassed the search engine firm, Facebook, Amazon and
other giants. What does this imply? It means that TikTok’s website has received
more traffic than any other domain. However, it does not show that it is the
biggest social media site or that it has more users than others.
When it
comes to the number of people using the apps, Facebook and Instagram are still
at the top, with TikTok at the third position. Nonetheless, it has
surpassed Snapchat and Twitter and is expected to grow more in 2022. That is
why marketers should include the video sharing app into their social media
marketing strategy next year.
