Digital technologies: products that are being developed

Innovative systems are being worked on every day in the tech industry. This article will explore the digital technologies that you cannot buy yet but that are being developed.

STEM-teaching robot
Sphero is a company that produces nifty little spherical robots and BB-8 toys that can be controlled with your smartphone. It has developed another device, called RVR, that is specifically aimed at people who might be interested in programming and coding. The firm notes that the machine is “fully programmable”, that is, you can use it even if you do not have an in-depth knowledge in coding.
The institution’s co-founder Adam Wilson said that “RVR is the kind of robot I wish I had growing up [...] For makers, developers and anyone who loves to build things, RVR’s advanced capabilities bring to life everything that makes coding exciting. That creative experience is at the core of why we first started Sphero”.

Levitating lamp
The Italian studio Idea3Di has developed a new Levia lamp which differs from ordinary ones. It looks like a stylish home décor piece that is mounted on a base made of either Carrara or Black Marquina. However, its oversized LED filament levitates below the stem. This creates a magical effect. The firm’s co-founder said that Levia “was born from the combination of advanced technology, energy efficiency, and innovative design. You can use the touch-sensitive button on the base to switch off the LED filaments, and the light bulb will stay in levitation even if the light’s out”
