Fintech: Creighton University is working on a course on this topic

The financial industry is being driven by data analytics and advanced technology. To ensure that its students are up-to-date with these developments, Creighton University is offering a fintech course. It is one of the first institution to do so.
As from the beginning of fall, students of Creighton University Heider College of Business will be able to earn a degree in Finance and Technology. Approximately half of the curriculum will consist of classes which have been newly developed. These will be focused on Python programming, machine learning, blockchain and the foundations of FinTech. This course will arm students with the skills needed to thrive in the financial market. They will be able to acquire knowledge and gain an understanding of how tech is disrupting this sector.
This degree was created because several companies were looking for employees with data analytic skills. Since fintech players are harnessing artificial intelligence and machine learning to analyse and act on data, traditional firms realise that they need the same offerings. This has led to a lack of skilled workers. As such, companies have turned to educational institutions to create courses focused in these areas. As part of the program, students will be also be granted internships.
