Twitter allows you to converse with guests during live streams

In most cases, the microblogging app Twitter is best known for allowing users to upload posts of 280 characters or less, its team has been working on enhancing the video element of this service in recent years. Since quite some time, people could post live streams of themselves.

Now, those using the broadcast service can invite others to join this stream. Up until now, the person operating the live-stream can only interact with viewers’ chat messages that appear in real-time on the display. Thanks to this new feature, which mirrors the one added to Periscope earlier this year, this has changed. It allows you to bring up to three people into your video and to turn a monologue into a conversation. However, you will be streaming only the audio of your guests, not the visual.

In a post announcing the new feature, the company stated, “Whether it’s #NBATwitter or #DemThrones, you can discuss your interests with anyone around the world and actually hear their perspective and reactions in real-time”. To add someone to your Twitter broadcast, you just have to tap on the double-face icon at the top right in the live mode option. This will allow viewers to request to join the stream. You will then receive a notification if someone asks to participate. If for any reason, you want to remove a guest, you just have to tap the ‘x’ next to their avatar.

Invite people to join your live stream.
