E-commerce: how to boost sales?

Like any other business, e-commerce will be a successful enterprise if sales are maximised and costs are minimised. This would lead to more revenue, which is the aim of all merchants. Considering the convenience offered by this sector, there is a huge shift towards it. As an increasing number of retailers are building online businesses, this market is becoming very competitive. As such, sellers have to implement innovative ways that will motivate consumers to purchase their products and services.

One of the issues faced by most e-commerce firms is shopping cart abandonment. Every day, the industry witnesses more customers leaving their carts abandoned at checkout. According to a report, 61 % of those who did this advance that it was because of additional costs like shipping fees which were not specified. Since e-shopping sites do not display these costs, a buyer does not think about spending so much when deciding to buy an item. That is why free deliveries drive sales. Data reveals that 63% of shoppers complete a deal if they do not have to spend on shipping or delivery fees. That is why retailers are advised to adopt a free delivery campaign whenever possible. However, it is sometimes impossible to eliminate all the transportation costs for customers. In those cases, sellers should display the shipping fee clearly on their e-commerce platform so that consumers are well informed before they make a purchasing decision.
