To ensure customers and employees’ safety, Walmart has put in place some security
protocols. These will allow clients to purchase products without being
concerned.
The firm has introduced ‘no-touch’ procedures. As such,
those using Walmart Pay will no longer have to touch the screen anymore.
Instead, they will be able to complete payments by scanning a QR code and utilising an application on
their phone. Regarding pick-up, customers simply have to open their trunks and
an employee will put their groceries there. A signature will not be required.
This is applicable for deliveries as well: workers can just leave the item on
the client’s doorstep. Speaking about this decision, Walmart executive vice
president and chief customer officer Janey Whiteside advanced, “We’re in
unprecedented times. We know customers want and need to be served differently”.
As such, the firm is adapting to consumers’ changing requirements.
Other businesses are taking more steps to increase safety
and reduce contact among shoppers. For instance, Walmart,
Kroger and Albertsons are going to install sneeze guards at registers. These
will help with social distancing. Some stores will put stickers on the floor to
show customers how far they need to stay away from each other. Additionally, delivery
companies can have their workers leave orders at the door.
