Ever since the UK went into lockdown, people have been using
online shopping services to get groceries and other essential products.
However, securing a delivery slot has been extremely difficult and supermarkets
are requesting those who can visit stores to do so. To help those in need, Asda has decided to change the way it
operates.
The supermarket giant has been working with the government
to help prioritise slots for those most in need of them. It has shared a
message on its website informing customers using its e-commerce solution that they will no longer be able to make last-minute
changes to their order. It says “You can only amend your order in the last
three days before it's due. The cut off time is 10pm. This helps us manage
demand so we can serve everyone”. Additionally, the company is asking customers
to think and be considerate when they buy online, that is, to allow delivery
slots to be taken by those needing them the most.
This is not the first change that Asda
has brought about. For instance, those visiting stores will be assisted by
staff members who will limit the number of customers inside the shop and
maintain social distancing at the door.
Last-minute changes can no longer be made
