With isolation protocols and ‘stay-at-home’ orders, more
people are spending time on social media. The number of notifications can be
overwhelming sometimes. To help users get a break, Facebook has designed a Quiet mode. This will give them better
control of their time.
The billions of people who are stuck at home are turning to
social networking platforms to communicate and socialise. While they are
‘adjusting to new routines’, limiting screen time and setting some boundaries
on spending time online is crucial. As such, Facebook is building more digital tools so that users can spend
time more efficiently on its app. The giant has released an announcement which
said, “Whether it’s to help you focus on your family and friends, sleep without
distraction or manage how you spend your time at home, we have tools that can
help you find the right balance for how you use Facebook”.
As such, Quiet mode will allow them to mute most of
their push notifications and limit notification dots. Additionally, if they try
to open the app when this mode is ON, it will remind them to limit their time
on the application. This update is available on iOS devices through the Manage
Your Time section that Facebook
introduced in 2018. It will be launched on Android in May.
