Financial literacy: how to increase your knowledge?

April is the National Financial Literacy month! Considering the fact that most of us are at home right now, what could be a better time to expand your knowledge? Keep reading this article to find some tips from Vince Shorb, the CEO of the National Financial Educators Council.

Testing!
First of all, improving your knowledge on financial matters requires identifying gaps and this can be done through testing. This does not mean that you have to sign up for a class or a seminar. You can do so via a variety of online tests. You can find 30 different ones on the website of the National Financial Educators Council. They cover topics such as student loans, investing, risk management, savings, expenses and budgeting, and financial psychology.

Reliable sources
After finding an area that you must focus on, you must look for a trusted source of information. This can be an advisor, a reliable website, a book, an author, an educator or a news outlet. This source will teach you things that you do not know and it will reaffirm your knowledge which will give you confidence to make the right financial decision. Very often, people are afraid to take some actions because they feel unsure. A trusted source will help will them with that.
