Since the outbreak of the coronavirus, Morrisons has experienced a huge growth in online sales. The
supermarket chain revealed that its e-commerce transactions have doubled.
To make sure that it is able to cope with demands and offer
a quality and speedy service, the firm has introduced more delivery slots and according to predictions, the grocery store is
now set to pass £1bn in annual sales by next spring. By mid-June, the company
will be implementing a click and collect solution at 280 outlets. It is more
than doubling its business with Amazon’s Prime fast delivery service. Moreover,
Morrisons, in collaboration with the courier DPD, is selling tens of thousands
of pre-prepared food boxes per week.
Additionally, to help the elderly and other people who do
not have access to the internet, Morrisons has set up a telesales service.
This will allow them to order items for home delivery from a local store. David
Potts, the firm’s chief executive, advanced that this phone
service is a lifeline to vulnerable shoppers isolating at home. He
said, “We have heard so many stories, particularly from the elderly and
vulnerable. Some said they didn’t know where their next meal was coming from”.
Thus, this option will help everyone.
