With various changes in the retail sector that affect the
way people purchase products, the department store John Lewis has announced that it is going to open 9 more outlets in
the UK.
These new branches will start welcoming the public as from
Thursday the 25th of June. This means that there will be 22 outlets
in total in the country. The company has been gradually reopening its shops
after the lockdown. It first started with a trial of the two locations in Kingston
and Poole and it saw shoppers queuing down the street. After that, it opened 11
more stores. Bérangère Michel, from
the firm, advanced, “We are taking a gradual approach to reopening to make our
shops as safe as they can possibly be for our customers and Partners but this
was a very welcome first step”.
John Lewis is also focussing on the security of employees
and clients while offering them an enjoyable experience. Besides, the gradual
re-opening, the firm has placed greeters at the doors to offer customers guidance
on the safety measures in place. There are new protocols for using lifts and
escalators, contactless dropboxes for returns and hand sanitiser. There are
also “Customer
Service Hosts” to help manage queues and the number of clients in
stores.
