The supermarket company Asda
is making some changes to its UK stores. It is trialling new services that will
soon be available.
Trolley cleaning
the firm is testing a new trolley wash
facility in the Leeds store. This will be implemented permanently in its outlets
if successful. Developed by WasteCare Group, it is said to eliminate 99.99 percent
of all known bacteria, viruses and pollutants. This system works by coating
trolleys in fine particles and will ensure that trolleys are sanitised before
use. Asda advanced that safety while shopping is a priority for the firm.
Delivery
Asda has already been offering delivery services for many years. However,
during the lockdown, demand has surged. As such, besides its standard facility,
the supermarket is teaming up with Uber Eats. Customers will be able to
use the latter’s mobile app and purchase more than 300 different products from
Asda. The items will be delivered on the same day. Currently, this
collaboration is being tested in the Pudsey, Leeds, Barnes Hill and Birmingham stores.
Simon Gregg, the vice president of online grocery at Asda
said: “We’re pleased to be partnering with Uber Eats to trial a rapid grocery
delivery service for customers in Leeds and Birmingham”.
