E-commerce: new report outlines change in consumers’ habits

Considering the rise in e-commerce, Magento, an Adobe company commissioned a report on how customers are reshaping the retail sector. Indeed, the coronavirus is helping accelerate consumers’ changing behaviour.

A survey was conducted among more than 2100 British respondents and the UK Consumer Preferences Report was published. Looking at a market that represents a significant niche for all digital commerce vendors, it reports that now, buyers can enjoy more online shopping options. As such, it is important for retailers to understand consumer preferences so that they are able to compete with rivals and attract customers.

British shoppers are massive adopters of e-commerce trends and they are looking for options that elevate their online experience. This can be done via several ways. For instance, merchants can leverage digital tools and such as screen browsing or easy mobile payment solutions. They can also offer additional services like seamless in-store or curbside pick-up. Moreover, these extra facilities should be made available in physical stores as well since consumers have become used to innovative services and they expect them everywhere.

The report also outlines concerns among British shoppers for safety and hygiene. Online merchants must ensure that they have informative product descriptions and clear images since consumers are unable to ‘see’ and touch items on the Web.
