Aldi is creating more jobs via a UK expansion

While the UK economy is currently struggling, Aldi has revealed that it is going to carry through with its expansion despite the fact that the coronavirus has changed shopping habits. Indeed, the German company will open approximately 100 supermarkets over the country. This implies an investment of 1.3 billion pounds.

This firm is the fifth-largest grocery chain in the United Kingdom. Its market share has grown 8% over the last decade because of its aggressive store opening programme. While industry data has shown that this decreased during the pandemic, the company is undeterred. The firm did not back off from its goal to have 1200 outlets in the country by 2025. Currently, it is operating nearly 900 shops.

This expansion is going to lead to the creation of 4000 jobs next year. This is an addition to the 3000 positions that have already been introduced in 2020. Moreover, Aldi is planning to upgrade 100 of its stores while also investing more in distribution centres.

Along with a physical expansion, Aldi will also improve its digital facilities, such as its e-commerce and click-and-collect services. This pandemic has forced the supermarket company to look more into home delivery so that it can enjoy the increase in demands that is happening and is expected to occur.
