The Green Man turned into a village shop

Located on Old Main Road, The Green Man is a pub that was bought by Richard Bradley and Charles Nickerson in September last year. Before that, the firm was not doing well and it had lost its position in the heart of customers. This has led to it being not “fully open” for two years and permanently closed for 12 months. The intention behind the acquisition was to innovate and enhance to bring the place back to life. This is exactly what was done! After several weeks of refurbishing, the pub started welcoming customers in December!

Sadly, just three months after, it had to close down again due to the coronavirus lockdown. Richard Bradley soon realised that people in the area are in need of a local shop. He started looking for support available for village pubs and came across ‘Pub Is The Hub’. This is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving community services and activities. Within, six weeks, he was able to apply for a ‘Community Services Grant’ that will cover the installation costs of the new store.

Turned into a shop, The Green Man is now addressing the need of the community for a local source of everyday items. It is designed to support elderly residents who are unable to travel, and to encourage visitors to come to the area.
