For quite some time, we have been reporting that non-cash payments are increasing in
various parts of the world. Indeed, cashless payment services have
been gaining more traction. This has been confirmed by the European Central Bank as well. The institution has revealed that digital
settlements in the euro area has grown by 8.1% to 98.0 billion in 2019, in
comparison to the previous year. The total value reached is €162.1 trillion,
and card payments accounted for 48% of this. Indeed, Europe
has a sophisticated and mature digital market.
