Sainsbury’s introduces new measures to fight coronavirus

Since coronavirus cases in the UK are not decreasing, retailers have been introducing new measures to help contain the virus. For instance, Sainsbury’s has announced more rules.

Like other supermarkets in the UK, the firm had already implemented strict social distancing rules, two-metre signage and Perspex screens at tills in all its outlets. Now, it is asking clients to shop ‘one adult at a time’. This means that only one person per household will be able to go in its stores. Not only will this help maintain a safe distance but it will also reduce queues to get in. There will be store teams at the entrance of outlets to monitor the number of people getting in. However, children are allowed to accompany their parents if they are unable to stay at home.

Additionally, the firm has also decreased the number of checkouts in supermarkets, convenience stores and petrol stations and has introduced a traffic light system to its larger outlets to be able to control the number of people getting in. It is important to note that face masks and coverings are mandatory in Sainsbury’s, except if you are exempt. If you do not have one, staff members will help you find one.
