The Bedford Borough Council has introduced a new platform
for those wishing to apply for a Test and
Trace support payment. This decision follows the government’s announcement
that it is implementing a financial package for residents who have to
self-isolate because of the virus.
This new project is going to give £500 to people whose income
are low, receive certain benefits and are required to self-isolate because they
have obtained positive results for their Covid-19 test or they have been in
close contact with someone who has the virus.
Nonetheless, to get this payment, some conditions must be
met. They must be unable to work from home and receive Universal Credit, Working Tax Credit, income-based
Employment and Support Allowance, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income
Support, Housing Benefit and/or Pension Credit.
As such, if you are
eligible for this payment, you can register via the online
application form found on Bedford Borough Council’s website. Councillor
Michael Headley, portfolio holder for Finance, advanced, “It’s important
that this support is being offered to those who need it most. Because asking
people to self-isolate is such a pivotal part of an effective test and trace
programme, this support is needed to make it fair for people who would
otherwise be hardest hit.”
