In January 2021, a new feature will be rolled out by Facebook in the UK. This is interesting
for news publishers since the firm is
planning to pay them for some articles. It is going to prioritise original
reporting. As such, it will focus on content that is not already available on
its platform. Several outlets, such as Hearst (Cosmopolitan, Elle,
Esquire), the Guardian Media group and JPI Media have signed up for this deal. Facebook
is expecting more publishers to join after the launch.
