Just Eat Takeaway: orders on the rise because of lockdown

 

With the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown, Just Eat has revealed that there is a significant increase in orders. In the final three months of 2020, consumers across Europe ordered 57% more takeaways from the firm.

Already in the third quarter of last year, the delivery group recorded a 46% jump since there were more coronavirus cases in various countries across Europe. Thus, government introduced stricter regulations to keep people at home. In the UK, deliveries increased by almost 400% in the fourth quarter of the year in comparison to the same period in 2019.

Based in Netherlands, Just Eat Takeaway is one of the world’s largest online food delivery firms. It advances that it had put ‘tremendous effort’ into enhancing its Just Eat UK business. For instance, it has doubled sales force which allowed consumers to order food from a wider variety of restaurants. This investment programme has been successful and it led to significant gains in market share.

Jitse Groen, the chief executive of Just Eat Takeaway advanced, “In 2021, we will continue to invest in price leadership, improving our service levels and expanding our offering to restaurants and consumers”. This will be very welcome by customers since the lockdown is still on.
