In a bid to help the environment and to give customers the
opportunity to enjoy price cuts, Asda
has introduced a new scheme. Thanks to this, clients will be able to benefit
from a 10% discount on George items.
According to news reports, consumers just have to pack up
their old and unwanted clothes and to bring them to a participating store. They
can also be dropped through Asda's ‘Toyou’ click and collect service, on the
condition that the QR code from the ‘Take Back' website is attached. This
project is a result of a collaboration with Yellow
Octopus Group and it is part of the retailer’s ‘George for Good’s'
eco-commitments.
The aim behind this scheme is to drive down textile waste by
reducing the amount of clothing that is sent to landfills every year. At the
same time, it will raise funds for Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign. This
supports Breast Cancer Now and Coppafeel. This recycling project has already
been launched at certain stores.
Speaking about it, Mel Wilson, sustainable, sourcing and
quality at Asda,
said, "It’s really important for our customers and colleagues that we
tackle the issue of not just sourcing our clothes more sustainably, but that we
encourage everyone in the UK to think about the issues of waste and how to make
fashion and textiles more circular so that we really can reduce the number of
garments that go into landfill”.
