Self-isolation payment: who can benefit from these?

While the UK government has been introducing several schemes to help people during the pandemic, there are still some complaints. According to figures released by BBC Reality Check, approximately two-thirds of those living in England and Wales trying to access the £500 self-isolation payment are finding their application rejected.

This project was first announced in September to ensure that people on low-income are able to self-isolate without having to worry about their finances. It followed several warnings from the government’s scientific advisors who advanced that residents could break the rules regarding self-isolation if they are concerned about money. Analysts revealed that under 4 million people would be eligible. Who can benefit from this type of settlement?

If someone living in England and Wales is tested positive for the coronavirus or is asked to self-isolate by a medical professional, he/she can apply for a £500 support payment. People must do so online and they have to ensure that they can upload all the evidences proving that they meet the eligibility criteria. There are two types of funds available. The main one is for those who are unable to work from home and are receiving some form of benefits. The other is a discretionary fund dedicated to those not receiving benefits but who will suffer financially if they self-isolate. Keep reading the articles posted on this blog to learn who obtained this settlement.
