With the re-opening of stores, physical retailers have been
hoping that consumers will abandon at least part of their e-shopping to visit brick and mortars. Indeed, the high street
definitely needs a boost! However, we are not sure whether that will be the
case.
A study on consumer habits across the pandemic was conducted
among people in the UK. It revealed that they will keep using e-commerce services because they like
it. To be more precise, 50% of those in the country advanced that they are
positive about buying clothes and other accessories online despite the
re-opening of stores. The same mentality is noticed among 35% of them when it
comes to electronics and entertainment and 37% say the same for beauty
products. The study was conducted by MiQ, a global programmatic media
partner. It also showed that 38% are not confident about returning to physical
shops for non-essential purchases and only 60% plan to shop in store for
essentials.
This hints that there are still some fears among customers
with regards to the pandemic.
This is also reflected in their travel and commuting plans. For instance, older
people advanced that they are more hesitant to use public transport and they
prefer to use their own vehicles.
