While the world of e-commerce is booming, merchants are
having to deal with the issues of storing the items that they are selling and
dealing with the logistics of operating. Saltbox
offers a solution to these problems.
This start-up was co-founded Tyler Scriven, Maxwell Bonnie
and Paul D’Arrigo. It is a form of ‘co-warehousing’ model that offers space to
small businesses and e-commerce
merchants. This can be used to operate, store and ship goods. Besides the
physical space, the firm offers integrated logistics services, amenities
such as the rental of equipment and packing stations and access to items such
as forklifts. Additionally, there are no leases involved. So tenants have the
opportunity to scale up and down according to their needs.
The first Saltbox facility was opened in late 2019. It is a
27,000-square-foot location in Atlanta and it was filled within two months
itself. A second one was recently launched and the firm plans to have eight
more such locations by the end of 2021. To enable this expansion, the company
has just completed a $10.6 million Series A round of financing.
One of the founders of Saltbox,
Scriven, advanced, “We became aware of the lack of physical workspace for SMBs
engaged in commerce” and one of the investors said that the firm is “extremely
well-positioned to help power and enable the next generation of great direct to
consumer brands”.
