The Irish leading retailer of craft and design products Kilkenny Design has decided to take a
step in the innovative e-commerce sector. It has introduced a virtual reality
online store. This will give customers from across the globe access to an
immersive in-store experience from the comfort of their own home.
The brand offers fashion, jewellery, homeware, giftware, textile
and craft products in physical outlets located all across Ireland. Now, it has
launched a virtual store. This move
follows a huge increase in traffic to its e-commerce website since the
beginning of the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown.
While the usual online shops focus on speed and efficiency,
the enhanced version by Kilkenny Design allows those browsing online to enjoy
an engaging, discovery-driven experience. Its design and layout are inspired by
the brand’s flagship store which is located on Nassau street in Dublin. As soon
as visitors click on the ‘Virtual Store’ link on the firm’s e-commerce
website, they are greeted with a panoramic view of the shop floor. As from
there, they can move between different sections such as jewellery, gifts,
wellness and homeware and select products displayed on virtual racks and
shelves.
Emer McCarthy, Group Strategy and E-commerce Director at
Kilkenny Design, advanced, “Customer experience is at the heart of everything
we do. It is incredibly important to us, and our new VR Store allows our
customers to engage with the Kilkenny Design brand in a
completely new and unique way at a time when the way we shop has undergone such
a dramatic shift”.
