Amazon Prime has free Deliveroo deliveries in the UK

There is some good news for Amazon Prime customers. They will give them the opportunity to access the silver tier of Deliveroo Plus free of charge for one year. This means that they will not have to pay anything for deliveries on orders that are worth more than £25. The usual fee is £3.49 a month. As such, clients will be able to make a saving of more than £40 per year.

If you are a Prime member and you wish to enjoy this benefit, you just have to link your accounts on Amazon’s website. This project comes more than two years after the e-commerce giant invested in Deliveroo. The former led a $575 million funding round in the delivery firm. The latter used the money to expand its engineering team and delivery reach. While Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) was a bit sceptical about the deal, it was cleared last year.

Before working with Deliveroo, Amazon tried to take on the restaurant delivery sector in the UK. Indeed, in 2015, it launched its own such service in London. However, the market is very competitive and it was unable to rival with UberEats and the rest. Thus, the facility, called ‘Amazon Restaurants’ was shut down two years later.
