It seems that YouTube
is also capitalising on the increase in consumer demands for e-commerce. As
from the 15th of November, it will turn into an online store that
will allow customers to make purchases during live broadcasts.
Google released a statement which advanced, “We will host a
week-long live shopping event on
YouTube starting November 15, featuring must-have holiday gifts from Samsung,
Verizon and Walmart”. The first step for this project was made earlier during
the year when the video-streaming service introduced ‘proof of purchases’
within its platform. This was an icon in the form of a bag located in the lower
left corner of the interface. Now, this feature will be transferred to its live
videos.
As such, those watching livestreams during that
particular week will have the opportunity to get new products, unlock
limited-time offers, and ask about the products during the broadcasts. They
will be able to engage with both the creators and other users who are also tuned
in. The aim of this is for viewers to take advantage of “the trust and
credibility and knowledge of their trusted content creators (youtubers) to make
informed purchases”. Do not forget to tune in to the YouTube
broadcasts if you want to check out these deals!
