Snapchat adds a new ‘Food Scan’ feature

Those who like cooking will love this new feature by Snapchat. It has rolled out a tool called ‘Food Scan’. This will allow users to obtain recipe recommendations just by scanning the ingredients that they have on hand.

This integration is a result of a collaboration with Allrecipes.  To use it, you just have to line up the items you have in the Snap camera and then hold down your finger on screen. The scan process will begin and relevant recipe matches will pop up. As such, users will be able to obtain more inspiration for their culinary choices. ‘Food Scan’ offers several other benefits. For instance, there is an option called ‘Nutrition Scan’ that will give you more insight into the health considerations of packaged foods. Additionally, you can access food facts from Wikipedia, which is another way to learn about what you are eating.

This is not the first time that Snapchat has worked on improving the ‘Scan’ feature. According to the firm, more than 170 million people now use this tool every month.  One of its other functionalities allows users to obtain information on wines by scanning the label, find out more about dog breeds, plants, and music, and get product recommendations based on an image.
