Following competition from Amazon and Walmart, Target has been enhancing its same-day
delivery service. This morning it announced that it has made it easier for
clients to purchase products that are available for same-day delivery from its
website.
The deliveries will be powered by Shipt. In 2017, the hypermarket firm acquired the service for $550
million to accelerate its digital fulfilment efforts. Following this deal, the
company has started offering same-day delivery through this facility on grocery
items and other products needed for daily use such as household, pet and baby
items. To benefit from this, customers had to go to the Shipt site or to download
the app to browse the same-day selection that Target offers. It was not a
smooth and integrated experience.
This has now changed with the launch of a new dedicated
shopping section on Target’s website. Thanks to this category, online shoppers
can browse through the 65,000 items available for same-day delivery.
These include groceries, household and pet items, baby needs and even some
apparel. They will be able to re-order products that they have already bought
before. The Target
same-day assortment is very similar to what is available via the
Shipt app. However, it offers a different look and feel from the delivery
service’s website.
