Facebook has launched a social network for students

Most of you may know that Facebook started as a social network for students at Harvard University. It was called ‘TheFacebook”. In its quest to attract more users and to grow, the firm has decided to revisit its origins. It is creating a new social networking space for members specific college communities.

The platform is named ‘Facebook Campus’ and is said to be an “exclusive” system. According to reports, “campus is an exclusive space for only you and the students in your college community. Your college email gives you access to Campus groups, events and more”. As such, thanks to your profile, your classmates and others in your community will be able to learn more about you. You will have the opportunity to connect and interact with others via your university email. Moreover, there will be Groups, Events and more activities for your campus.

The introduction of this social network has generated mixed responses among internet users. Many of them are amused. For instance, one commented, “And when Zuckerberg saw the breadth of his domain, he wept, for there were no more apps to conquer”.

Nonetheless, these speculations have neither been confirmed nor denied by the firm. A spokesperson said, “We’re always working to improve the Facebook experience for students, but have nothing to announce at this time”.
