Google adds an update to its video chat app DUO

There are several jokes about the wide variety of chat apps that Google offers. Currently, it provides Hangouts, Google Meet and Duo. To demarcate the latter from others, the tech giant has launched an update.

Being a mobile-first solution, Duo puts the emphasis on personal conversations. When it was introduced, its focus was, as its name suggests, on one-to-one interactions. However, this is no longer the case, because of which many believe that it will soon be renamed. Google has recently upgraded the app with a ‘family mode’. Once activated, this allows you to start doodling on the screen, activate a number of new effects and virtually dress up with masks. These fun options are available for one-on-one calls as well.

The tech giant has been focussing on the mobile app a lot lately. Last month, Google increased the maximum number of chat participants to 12 persons on both Android and iOS devices. This is definitely an advantage since people are turning to digital solutions to remain in touch with their loved ones nowadays. This feature will be brought to browsers soon as well. As such, it is going to work for anyone having a Google account. Additionally, the tech giant also launched a new ad for Duo targeting those working from home.
