Reboxed raises £500K to reduce e-waste

A lot of retailers have been introducing new measures to ensure sustainability, zero-waste and to try to reduce the threat posed by global warming. Along the same lines, the start-up Reboxed is trying to cut down e-waste.

Headquartered in Brixton, this firm is working on a marketplace for people to buy and sell pre-loved devices. The refurbished and pre-owned tech brand raised £350k in pre-seed funding for this initiative. This means that it now has a total of £500k for this project. Angel investors are former Dyson CEO Martin McCourt, Mazuma Mobile co-founder Charlo Carabott, and ustwo Co-Founder Matt ‘Mills’ Miller. According to one of them, phone owners are increasingly interested in exchanging their used handset for another one that is in great condition. However, currently they face considerable hassles while making the exchange. There is also the chance that they receive a poor trade-in deal or substandard product.

Nonetheless, Reboxed is going to offer a solution to these issues. The firm will introduce the UK’s first on-demand buyback process that will be equipped with its ‘TechCheck’ technology. This is a diagnostic service that guarantees the phones for buyers and offers a 15-month free warranty. As such, shoppers will be able to purchase used products without worrying about their quality.
