Asda has introduced a rapid delivery service

Banking on efficiency and rapidity, Asda has introduced a new delivery service. Thus, those living close to a few of its stores will be able to have their groceries delivered to their house in just one hour.

This “super speedy service” will be rolled out at the Halifax, Rotherham and Poole Asda outlets. This means that those living within a three-mile radius of these stores can purchase up to 70 items from the firm’s online shop for ‘Express Delivery’. These will be delivered within one hour. They can also get an unlimited basket. However, they will have to wait for four hours. While there are no minimum charges per basket, each order will be billed an additional flat rate of £8.50 for shipping.

By introducing this super quick facility, Asda is hoping to compete with online giants like Amazon. Currently, the latter’s Prime customers can enjoy same-day free delivery when buying groceries from its Fresh stores. Moreover, the e-commerce firm has five physical stores in Britain that are cashierless. This means that clients do not have to wait in queues to pay for their items. They can just ‘walk out’ of the shop.

Asda’s various rivals, like Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsbury’s, already have one-hour or rapid delivery services through firms such as Deliveroo, Uber Eats and other providers. However, none of them offer a full-range of products.
